Went to grab FTF on GC23 YDM earlier today, but didn't take time to locate this BM. Came back a bit later, with my girlfriend, NativeAZgirl, to recover the BM.

We had one camera with us, so used the same photos for both of our claims on the BM.

DAY 1.
Okay, so starting off the trifecta challenge. After speaking with -One- yesterday, I have a better idea of how to find and log benchmarks. So, no better way to figure it out than to jump feet first. Did a little research and this one is easily found and close by, so let's start there.

Logged with GC7326 and ADOT 2044

I'm not sure this one could be more obvious. Marked very well at this time.

Found in good condition at the stated coordinates.

BM is in good condition. Found while visiting some friends who live nearby. As a surveyor & engineer from Ohio, I really appreciate how almost every intersection in the area has a monument like this set in it. Good job, Arizona Department of Transportation!

Found as described.

Only seven feet off, with a 66' EPE, pretty good I'd say!

Found in good condition.

Benchmark COT4

Found this benchmark this evening. Took a little looking because it sits below blacktop level and was covered with dirt. After a couple of passes on the bike I located it.

Recovered as described.

Note that this benchmark has been adjusted so you can use it to check the accuracy of your GPSr. We didn’t stand in the road for more than a minute, but our GPSr was only off by 4 feet today.

We decided to start our benchmark searching with one we knew was there - excited to find our first benchmark (after two unsuccessful new ones) - will be searching for more benchmarks!

photoOur first benchmark find!

OK so we're not the first on this one, but it still counts. Amazing how official we look to others even in cutoffs and T-shirts. Everyone around us thought we were surveyors.

N 33° 19.428 W 111° 53.536

It's in the middle of the road and in good condition. Was recently used since the painted markings had been refreshed.
