11:00AM This Bench Mark disk is on 5 channel culvert south of Rosenberg, TX on TX Hwy 36. As I was standing over the mark with my GPS, it read 0.13 miles off. This Benchmark is 2.81 miles from my home in Rosenber, TX at a bearing of 236 on my GPS. I am attaching a photo of the mark and its surroundings.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1973 2.25 MI S FROM ROSENBERG. 2.25 MILES SOUTH ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 36 FROM THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH AT ROSENBERG, 0.45 MILE NORTH OF THE JUNCTION OF BAND ROAD, IN THE TOP AND 0.6 FOOT SOUTH OF THE NORTH END OF THE EAST CONCRETE HEADWALL OF A 5-CHANNEL CULVERT, 25 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND ABOUT 1/2 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE HIGHWAY.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
