DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 (HSC) THE STATION IS LOCATED 0.25 MILE SOUTH OF THE POST OFFICE IN THE VILLAGE OF CAT SPRING AND IN THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF A PASTURE OWNED BY MR. AUG SECHTING. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN CAT SPRING, GO SOUTH, CROSSING RAILROAD TRACKS, ON A GRAVEL ROAD FOR 0.2 MILE TO A BOARD GATE ON THE RIGHT. PASS THROUGH GATE THEN FOLLOW ROAD RIGHT-OF-WAY FENCELINE FOR 0.05 MILE TO THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE PASTURE AND THE STATION SITE. TO REACH THE AZIMUTH MARK FROM THE DEPOT IN CAT SPRING, GO NORTHEAST ON FARM ROAD 1088 FOR 0.4 MILE TO THE HOME OF MR. AD KOLLATCHNY AND THE MARK ON THE LEFT AS DESCRIBED. THE STATION MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 4 INCHES. IT IS 60 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF A GRAVEL ROAD, 36 FEET NORTHWEST OF A T-TYPE FENCE CORNER, 14.5 FEET NORTH OF AN EAST-WEST FENCELINE AND 5 FEET NORTH OF A WITNESS POST. THE MARK IS STAMPED CAT SPRING 1954. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 6 INCHES. IT IS 23 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF A GRAVEL ROAD, IN A NORTH-SOUTH FENCELINE AND AT THE EAST EDGE OF THE PASTURE. THE MARK IS STAMPED CAT SPRING NO 1 1954. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 6 INCHES. IT IS AT THE SOUTH EDGE OF THE PASTURE AND 1 FOOT NORTH OF AN EAST-WEST FENCELINE. THE MARK IS STAMPED CAT SPRING NO 2 1954. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 4 INCHES. IT IS 60 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE CORNER OF MR. KELLATCHNYS HOUSE, 40 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER OF A T-ROAD INTERSECTION, 25 FEET SOUTH OF A WHITE PICKET FENCE CORNER OF THE YARD, 2 FEET SOUTH OF A WITNESS POST AND 1 FOOT EAST OF THE RIGHT-OF-WAY FENCELINE. THE MARK IS STAMPED CAT SPRING 1954.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1963 (KMB) STATION AND REFERENCE MARKS NO. 1 AND 2 AND THE AZIMUTH MARK WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION AS DESCRIBED. DIRECTIONS FOR PROCEEDING TO STATION SITE ARE CORRECT.

  • The orthometric height was scaled from a topographic map.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
