DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 (ITS) THE STATION IS LOCATED NEAR THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF THE VILLAGE OF EGYPT, 10 MILES WEST OF HUNGERFORD, 5 MILES NORTHWEST OF GLEN FLORA AND 5 MILES SOUTHWEST OF BONUS. B.F. AND DONALD DUNCAN OWN THE PROPERTY. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 59 AND FARM ROAD 102 IN WHARTON, GO NORTHWEST ON FARM ROAD 102 FOR 10.8 MILES TO THE POST OFFICE IN EGYPT. TURN RIGHT, EAST, ON A GRAVEL ROAD AND GO 0.5 MILE TO THE STATION ON THE LEFT IN THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF A PASTURE AND 275 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A SINGLE UNIT AIRPLANE HANGAR. TO REACH THE AZIMUTH MARK FROM THE STATION, GO EAST ON GRAVEL ROAD FOR 0.3 MILE TO THE MARK ON THE LEFT AS DESCRIBED. THE STATION MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 1 INCH. IT IS 60 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD, 14 FEET EAST OF A NORTH-SOUTH FENCELINE, 23 FEET NORTHEAST OF A T-TYPE FENCE CORNER AND POWER POLE AND 21.6 FEET NORTHEAST OF A WITNESS POST. THE MARK IS STAMPED EGYPT 1954. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 8 INCHES. IT IS 1 FOOT EAST OF A NORTH-SOUTH FENCELINE AND IS STAMPED EGYPT NO. 1 1954. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 8 INCHES. IT IS 41 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD, 20 FEET WEST OF A TELEPHONE POLE, 1 FOOT NORTHEAST OF THE RIGHT-OF-WAY FENCELINE AND APPROX 200 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE AIRPLANE HANGAR. THE MARK IS STAMPED EGYPT NO. 2 1954. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN A SQUARE CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 8 INCHES. IT IS 40 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD, 43 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF A PRIVATE ROAD NORTH AND GATE, 19 FEET WEST OF A T-TYPE FENCE INTERSECTION WITH THE RIGHT-OF-WAY FENCE AND 1 FOOT NORTH OF THE RIGHT-OF-WAY FENCELINE. THE MARK IS STAMPED EGYPT 1954. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 30 METERS.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in February 1996.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
