Passing through Beaumont doing some benchmarking, geocaching and waymarking around town. My photo for this one came out blurry.

My Geobuddy DJBTex clued me in that this building was a benchmark near downtown. Today when I went out for my walk I made a point of taking a picture so I could get another local benchmark. Wow these benchmarks sure are easy to log! Made it to ten benchmarks!

Saw this benchmark site while downtown at the courthouse today. Still appears to be in good shape, just no rotating beacon.

Saw this while geocaching in Beaumont with Huff-Suter.

I never noticed the beacon before and now my eyes are drawn to it.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1933 (ERM) STATION IS THE CENTER OF THE REVOLVING AIR BEACON WHICH IS THE HIGHEST POINT OF THE NEW JEFFERSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE AND JAIL AT BEAUMONT.
01/01/1960 by CGS (GOOD)
RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1960 (JKR) THE STATION WAS RECOVERED AS DESCRIBED. THE BUILDING SUPERINTENDENT STATED THAT THE AIR BEACON HAD NOT BEEN MOVED SINCE 1933.
01/01/1984 by USPSQD (SEE DESCRIPTION)
RECOVERY NOTE BY US POWER SQUADRON 1984 (KW) PROBABLY STILL GOOD FOR DAYTIME USE DESTROYED FOR NIGHT-TIME USE.
