We saw this before we actually saw the geocache we were looking for. Out caching with thenkengrene and Coastie41.

Notice the BM while caching with Thenkengrene and Tfbrown.

Hanging out at the Union Depot...and saw this at a geocache site. Very, Very Cool!! Out caching with Coastie41 and TFBrown.

Went back to check on this benchmark after learning I could log them as well as geocaches.

I located the cache and when Paleopoppys wife Judy told us there was also a Benchmark nearby we located it straight-away; my 1st benchmark log here as I usually don't deal in these at all.

We got our ticket to ride
A cache is here beside
But a twofer is great
Benchmarks surely rate!
And this one certainly didn't hide!

Easy spot -- right beneath GC2NPWP Union Depot. Yay!

Found this one right below a geocache. Also happy to log a 'twofer'. The bench mark is in good shape.

if you are geocaching this one can't be missed...

We got to see this one after finding the very nearby cache Union Depot (GC2NPWP).

Saw this benchmark while looking at the neat Elgin Depot.

My first Benchmark!!! Dated 1953!!

Howdy!
I don't usually go out looking for benchmarks, but this one almost slapped me in the face!
I was by the museum looking for a good spot to leave a geocache and the BM was right where I am thinking of placing the cache. This will work so that cachers that come get the cache can log the BM and those that come looking for the BM can log a cache - sounds like Win,Win to me!

GREAT depot!!

Elgin train depot is now a museum. Benchmark recovered as described and in good condition, but better coordinates are: N 30 20.859 W 097 22.172. What can't they all be this easy!
