Came out this way a couple of days ago, to see if Santa Rita Rd connected to Gardner Canyon area. I realized we passed right by a station, so came back out today. Coordinates given are sufficient to find it. Station is cemented into rock, and a small rock cairn with summit log has been built right next to it. RM1 and RM2 are set in concrete pedestals. AZ mark not searched for. Access from Hwy 83 via Gardner Canyon Road to FR 785. turn left to FR 4111. left on 4111 and follow to the top of the ridge where it joins 4104. Station and RMs are located NW of the intersection of FR 4111 and 4104. FR 4104 continues back to Hwy 83, where it is signed as Santa Rita Rd, but it is a rocky road.

[Beautiful view from this benchmark and if you like to 4-wheel this is a good place to do it.]

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in August 1993.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
