We visited on Confederate Sunday and the Stars and Bars were raised on the flagpole. We enjoyed a wonderful visit to this amazing fort.

Found on a weekend trip with GeoCrews family

Recovered in good condition. According to park ranger, this flagpole is still the original erected in 1964.

Oh say can you see? And, we saw with Old Glory in all her glory.

This is a wonderful fort. Look for the gators.

Got there after the fort closed and the flag was down and gate closed so I couldn't get anywhere near the flagpole. But, you can see the top of the pole peeking up over the trees.

Visited Fort Pulaski today. Found the flag pole (of course) but didn't find the 3 other benchmarks in the fort.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1964 (RWT) LOCATED ABOUT 12 MILES EAST OF SAVANNAH, WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE FORT PULASKI NATIONAL MONUMENT, ON THE RAMPART OVER THE MAIN ENTRANCE ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE FORT. IT IS A GUYED, WOODEN FLAGPOLE, PAINTED WHITE, AND ABOUT 75 FEET HIGH. THE INTERSECTION POINT WAS THE BALL ON TOP.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in September 1997.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
