DESCRIBED BY GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION 1982 (WRN) THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 14.15 KM (8.8 MI) SOUTH-SOUTHEAST FROM CLAXTON, 14.35 KM (8.9 MI) NORTHEAST FROM GLENNVILLE, AND 17.4 KM (10.8 MI) SOUTHEAST FROM BELLVILLE. OWNERSHIP--U.S. GOVERNMENT, FORT STEWART MILITARY RESERVATION. CONTACT RANGE CONTROL BEFORE GOING TO THE STATION. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 301 (U.S. HIGHWAY 25) AND STATE ROUTE 144 IN GLENNVILLE, GO EAST ALONG STATE ROUTE 144 FOR 1.95 KM (1.2 MI) TO THE GEORGIA NATIONAL GUARD BUILDING ON THE LEFT. CONTINUE GOING EAST ALONG STATE ROUTE 144 FOR 6.7 KM (4.15 MI) TO THE JUNCTION OF A DIRT FOREST SERVICE ROAD (FS 5) TO THE LEFT AT SIGN, GLISSONS MILLPOND, ON THE LEFT. TURN A SHARP LEFT GOING NORTHWEST ALONG FS 5 FOR 0.65 KM (0.4 MI) TO A FORK. BEAR RIGHT GOING NORTH ALONG FS 5 FOR 3.8 KM (2.35 MI) TO THE JUNCTION OF A DIRT ROAD FS 4 CROSSING. CONTINUE GOING NORTH ALONG FS 5 FOR 3.85 KM (2.4 MI) TO THE JUNCTION OF ANOTHER DIRT ROAD CROSSING ON A SLANT ANGLE. CONTINUE GOING NORTH ALONG FS 5 FOR 4.6 KM (2.85 MI) TO THE STATION ON THE RIGHT. THE STATION IS A STANDARD GADT DISK STAMPED---LEWIS 2 1982 AZ MK---, SET INTO THE TOP OF A ROUND CONCRETE MONUMENT 30.5 CM IN DIAMETER FLUSH WITH GROUND. IT IS LOCATED 13.72 METERS (45.00 FT) WEST-NORTHWEST FROM THE CENTERLINE OF FS 5, 30.94 METERS (101.5 FT) SOUTHWEST FROM A 20 INCH OAK TREE FORKED 20 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND, 14.90 METERS (48.90 FT) NORTH-NORTHWEST FROM A 12 INCH PINE TREE, 32 METERS (105.0 FT) SOUTH FROM THE EAST EDGE OF THE ROAD AT THE NORTH END OF THE CURVE, AND 1.37 METERS (4.5 FT) EAST-SOUTHEAST FROM A METAL WITNESS POST. THE UNDERGROUND MARK IS A STANDARD GADT DISK STAMPED---LEWIS 2 1982 AZ MK---, SET INTO AN IRREGULAR MASS OF CONCRETE .92 METERS BELOW THE SURFACE.   • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in September 1997.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
