Easy & fun!

Recovered in good condition with the following adjustments to the 1973 description:
- The mark is 0.7 feet east of the northwest corner of the Golden’s Foundry & Machine Company building.
- The mark is 3.3 feet above the level of the sidewalk.
- The old Union Station depot building mentioned in the “To Reach” is now occupied by the Columbus Chamber of Commerce.

GPS (HH2) coordinates were: N 32° 28.105 W 084° 59.074

A wonderful historic building. The company is still in business and is run by descendants of the original founders. Family owned since 1882.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
