Found this because the descrition put us right on top of it. GPS was useless with this one, although I guess it was in the right city.

found it.

Found it by using the description. GPS was way off. I believe the library is going to move into this building.

Easy find. As Xorand notes, this is now the old post office. Wonder what they're planning on doing with this building now.

Found this one as described in the front lawn of our old Post Office building. We didn't have a printed description of this one and it was about 200 feet away from where the coordinates said it should be. Just stumbled upon it and took the picture. Got home and found that it was one of the benchmarks listed on the site.

Our second find ever.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (g = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
