Discovered it while caching downtown. It required walking on the edge of the concrete outside of the fence to get a photo. There were keep off of the grass signs everywhere.

I got as close up of a picture as I could. The entry was fenced off and you weren't allowed to walk on the grass around it.

Found while here visiting for geo woodstock

Found it while geocaching today. Didn't get too close due to the hostile sign saying "STAY OFF THE GRASS!!!". Recovered in great shape. I'll check the last time it was logged with UGS and submit if appropriate.

Easy find, one of those benchmarks that I've passed plenty of times on my walks through FW, but haven't gotten off my duff to log a visit. I was getting ready to head out of FW for the afternoon, and this was the proverbial "Just one more."

I was on a geocaching/waymarking expedition to Fort Worth with the wife, via the Trinity Railway Express, and I noticed the disc in the wall. Walked over to it and to see if it was a benchmark... in very good condition.

While on another benchmarking spree in downtown Fort Worth, I picked up this really easy one. The most difficult part of this event was finding a place to park. Downtown Fort Worth has many benchmarks but few available parking places.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991. WARNING-Repeat measurements at this control monument indicate possible vertical movement.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
