Easy find on this one.
I did have to wait for the Amtrak train to pass before I could get close.

Hadn't read up on this one before arriving so after some failed searching we were just leaving when I spotted it off in the distance.

This benchmark is located close to where my parents live so we decided to stop by and find it. It was dark when we searched and we almost gave up, but then ertyu noticed something on the post of the Fielder Street overpass above us. Here's the coordnates I took with my Oregon 450t: N 32 44.178 W 097 07.891. I have also attached a picture. Thanks! ~TeXaN CHicK

First benchmark as part of the Well Rounded cacher quest.

OBM thought the benchmark was really cool...

2:14 pm - I came to Arlington to get love and comfort from my big sister after losing my Geo Buddy and Pal, Gaius! I also figured that caching is also very therapeutic! I spent the day trying for as many different types of caches as I could in one day. I ended with 8 types and 1 benchmark!

Finding the right way to this road is the only complicated part for me on the benchmark! Cache type #6 of the day! SLTNLNTFTH!

Parked in lot on Abrams then crossed the tracks.

This one was very easy and very clear too. I merely had to pretend to buy chicken at Lisa's chicken across the street.(I still like KFC better).

I really need to get my digital camera fixed. The closeup shots are terrible.

Excellent. Parking lot via Abrams made it easy to get to - just cross the tracks.

Easy to see, hard to get to but not because of thorns or other bushwacking!

Found with Amada. It is to cold to stomp through the briars so we tried our hand at benchmarks, with some success.

No more Popeye's but the Arlington Steak House is still going strong.

I found the station in good condition.

Really easy find. I spotted it from far away.

Found yesterday without a camera, so took this shot on the fly by it today. 9/4/3

The mark is still there, obviously, just as described in the data sheet. Use caution when approaching this one, due to heavy traffic.

This is the mark.

Thanks to the pictures on the log site I was able to find it the 2nd time!

photoFinally, success!
No one told me to look up! If you should log this near lunch time, don't miss going to Arlington Steakhouse and having the chicken fried steak lunch special for $5.00 ... it's great! You can see it in the back ground.

No problem with this one. You can see it at 45 mph.

Actually, I did find a way to get to this one without crossing a road. Take Abram street to the Fielder bridge, then park in a little parking lot at: N 32 44.171, W 097 07.871. You'll have to cross the railroad tracks, but it's a little safer then crossing Division.

OK, it's not my best work with a camera.

This is the world from the benchmark's point of view.
photoFast Food for Benchmarkers
You can eat here after the find, but please be careful crossing the street.

Be careful when getting this one. There's no way to come at it without crossing traffic.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
