We've passed by this benchmark so many times and never noticed it until the other night while walking to a nearby restaurant. It's in good condition.

Found as described while in town for the Tour of Tucson.

I was in the building today for the first time, it is an old one. I thought surely there must be a benchmark nearby. I went out to my car and found two workmen copying it. I took a picture, a good find.

Beautiful Building....

Found this just as the description says. Saddly the GPS was not getting signal between the buidlings at 11pm so I canot confirm the coordinates.

We found this after an icecats game while enjoying the wonderful night.

Image shows it is in perfect condition.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in April 2000.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
