photoSETTING
THE DISK IS SET IN THE CONCRETE HEADWALL OF A CULVERT UNDER THE WESTBOUND FRONTAGE ROAD OF INTERSTATE 10

The joys of finding a benchmark none have searched for in the past.

Elmosmelmo and I recovered this benchmark around 2040 hours on 05 Dec 2005. We did not have the coordinates and this location was actually spotted while driving full bore down the frontage road. We did a U-Turn and were happy to find it trully was a benchmark.

Can home and confirmed it is indeed the information needed.

Will upload an image shortly.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
