RavRobin and I just returned to our hotel after hanging out with CampCutie95. RavRobin started to watch the nonsense leading up to the 2nd Clinton/Trump presidential debate while I ran across the street to check out this benchmark. See attached photo.

Walked over to this benchmark while grabbing GCZENC nearby. Biggest benchmark disk I've come across yet! This one should be here for a long time.

Found the marker in good condition during a lunchtime break. The marker was RESET in 1986 and the elevation stamping reads 2379.386.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
