I took me a lot longer than I expected to recover this one, I was based my initial search on previous finders' coordinate entries... which turned out to be several feet further North and closer to the street.

In the end, my GPSr settled on the above-mentioned coordinates: the mark is currently right behind a construction fence, so one cannot take a precise reading right "on top" of the marker... only 1-2 feet away from it. That said, the station was recovered in good condition, see attached pictures for reference.

PS: The BM is located right near the NE corner of a tall utility building, not by the patio as indicated by previous finders' coordinate entries.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in April 2000.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
