Recovered Station Mark in good condition as described with the following update to the description – the Station Mark is flanked on 4 sides by 25 foot concrete petals that form a cross. The petals were buried under 1 inch of silt. Did not search for the Reference Marks.

To reach the Station from the intersection of I-10 and AZ Hwy 287 – take Hwy 287 East for 5 miles to S. Curry Peak Road. Turn right South on S. Curry Road for 3 miles to N. Estrella Road. Continue South on Estrella Road for 1 mile to W. Hanna Road. Turn right West on W. Hanna Road for 1 mile to N. Toltec Road and the Station on the left.

DESCRIBED BY DEFENSE MAP AGENCY 1967 T-7-S. R-7-E. IN SECTION 15 NEAR THE NORTHWEST CORNER. THE STATION MARK IS A CORPS OF ENGINEERS, U.S. ARMY DISK CENTERED IN THE TOP OF A ROUND CONCRETE POST 8 INCHES IN DIAMETER PROJECTING 0.1 FOOT ABOVE THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. THE MARK IS STAMPED--AM 48 1967 ARMY MAP SERVICE. THE STATION MARK IS LOCATED 93 FEET EAST OF THE NORTH-SOUTH POWER LINE. 121 FEET EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF NORTH-SOUTH ROAD. 189 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF EAST-WEST ROAD. 217 FEET SOUTH OF THE EAST-WEST POWER LINE. 98 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF EAST-WEST LEVEE. TO REACH FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE ROUTES 84 AND 93 IN CASA GRANDE, ARIZONA GO SOUTHEAST ON 84 AND 93 FOR 10.2 MILES TO CROSSROAD (TOLTEC HIGHWAY). TURN LEFT AND GO NORTH FOR 2.0 MILES TO ROAD EAST AND THE STATION SITE.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in August 1993.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.) The vertical order pertains to the superseded datum.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
