After finding out about this series of benchmarks in the Casa Grande area, that are similar to the ones near my Lonesome Bush Cache, we had to come and check them out.

We came over here from the other side of the Casa Grande Mountains and benchmark CZ2314. We drove down this road and found this benchmark in the desert brush. There are likely more down the road, but given its current state of disrepair, we chose not to go at that time. We left and headed down Sunland Gin Road to locate more benchmarks, including the one still left within the town CZ2166.

Reportedly these benchmarks were for camera alignment and resolution studies. There are others believed to be in the area consisting of lines of different length and some with a bullseye pattern, but I have not found them or seen reports of them as yet.

This benchmark is not visible in the aerial photo, however part of that intersection is not as readily visible, so it may still be there.

 • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
 • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
