Recovered Station Mark, Reference Mark E, and Reference Mark S in good condition as described with the following update to the description – the Station Mark is flanked on 4 sides by 25 foot concrete petals that form a cross.

To reach the Station from the intersection of I-10 and AZ Hwy 287 – take Hwy 287 East for 1 mile to S. Sunland Gin Road. Turn right South on S. Sunland Gin Road for 2 miles to E. Selma Highway. Turn right West on E. Selma Highway and the Station is on the right.

Found this one today while out looking for benchmarks.

Located on the north side of Selma Highway southwest of Bench Mark Designation AK 46 (PID CZ2067). This disk is located in the center of four cement structures that form a cross. The round cement structure in the center and the disk were covered with mud; GunPilot removed the mud and the disk is once again visible.

DESCRIBED BY DEFENSE MAP AGENCY 1967 T-6-S. R-6-E. IN SECTION 36 NEAR THE SOUTHEAST CORNER. THE STATION MARK IS A CORPS OF ENGINEERS, U.S. ARMY DISK CENTERED IN THE TOP OF A ROUND CONCRETE POST 8 INCHES IN DIAMETER PROJECTING 0.1 FOOT ABOVE THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. THE MARK IS STAMPED--AJ 46 1967 ARMY MAP SERVICE. THE STATION MARK IS LOCATED 116.0 FEET SOUTH OF CENTERLINE OF EAST-WEST CONCRETE IRRIGATION DITCH. 73.0 FEET EAST OF CENTERLINE OF NORTH-SOUTH CONCRETE IRRIGATION DITCH. 92.0 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF EAST-WEST ROAD. 122.0 FEET NORTH OF EAST-WEST POWERLINE. 259.0 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF NORTH-SOUTH ROAD. TO REACH FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE ROUTES 84 AND 93 IN CASA GRANDE, ARIZONA GO EAST ON FLORENCE BLVD. FOR 5.0 MILES TO A CROSSROAD. TURN RIGHT AND GO SOUTH FOR 2.0 MILES TO A CROSSROAD AND THE STATION SITE.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in August 1993.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.) The vertical order pertains to the superseded datum.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
