Visible in aerial photos, on the far side of a major canal (CAP canal?) and on Indian reservation. Highly doubtful any cacher can legally get to this one.

DESCRIBED BY DEFENSE MAP AGENCY 1966 T-7-S. R-5-E. IN SECTION 31 NEAR THE NORTHWEST CORNER. THE STATION MARK IS A CORPS OF ENGINEERS, U.S. ARMY DISK CENTERED IN THE TOP OF A ROUND CONCRETE POST 8 INCHES IN DIAMETER PROJECTING 0.1 FOOT ABOVE THE SURFACE OF THE GROUND. THE MARK IS STAMPED--W 51 1966 ARMY MAP SERVICE. THE STATION MARK IS LOCATED 100 FEET SOUTHEAST OF SECTION CORNER. 64 FEET EAST OF THE NORTH-SOUTH FENCE. 10 FEET WEST OF THE INTERSECTING CENTERLINES OF THE NORTH-NORTHEAST-SOUTHWEST ROAD AND ROAD EAST. 40 FEET NORTHWEST OF A BUSH. TO REACH FROM THE NORTH BOUNDARY OF THE PAPAGO INDIAN RESERVATION AT CHUICHU ROAD 8 MILES SOUTH OF CASA GRANDE, ARIZONA GO SOUTHWEST ON THE CHUICHU ROAD FOR 1.7 MILES TO A ROAD RIGHT. TURN RIGHT AND GO NORTHWEST AND WEST FOR 2.20 MILES TO A SHARP CURVE RIGHT AND TRAIL WEST. CONTINUE ON MAIN ROAD NORTH AND THENCE NORTHWEST FOR 2.1 MILES TO CROSS ROAD (UNDERGROUND GAS LINE) TURN LEFT AND GO SOUTHWEST FOR 0.1 MILE TO A TRAIL WEST. TURN RIGHT AND GO WEST FOR 2.4 MILES TO NORTH-SOUTH FENCELINE AND STATION SITE.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in August 1993.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.) The vertical order pertains to the superseded datum.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
