I was geocaching in the area and thought there may be a benchmark on this building. I enjoy locating benchmarks and have never seen a building with this many. I located all 15 benchmarks on this building. It's interesting that there is not an H4, but I don't see any history of one. All were in good condition, with some having paint covering part of the mark.

Tipapignola and I circled the entire building and could spot most of the benchmarks, including this one.

During our trip to the US I found out more about benchmarks. I tried to find as many as possible which turned out to be tricky.
This benchmark was in perfect condition.

Walk around the block and recording tons of BMs.

Finally got back over here (with FlagMan) to find BMs missed when the building was under construction. Disk appears to be in fair-to-good condition.

Finding benchmarks here is like shooting fish in a barrel. My guess is this building was the epicenter of a lot of mapping in the area.

Just like Hoover Dam, this place is a benchmark wonderland!! No coords needed, all were easy to spot. I grabbed 15 marks in a ten minute walk around. Most in very good shape.

In town from Denton, Texas, visiting family. Took the kids to the new park here and went a little crazy discovering and photographing all of the benchmarks surrounding the county building!

Found: Good. Construction will make it difficult to get to all of the BM's, but there is access to this one and a few others. I will just have to go back to log the rest after construction is completed. Being a Government job, I'm guessing that I and other Benchmarkers should not hold our breaths.

Seeking benchmarks after jury duty. Construction at both the north and south ends of the building prevented me from logging several more. Found this one in good condition.

Came here today along with fisnjack and dillweed with the express purpose of finding the benchmarks on this building. Due to construction areas being closed off to the public, we were only able to discover 7 of them. This was one.

Found along with Dillweed and Ragfoot. Hard with all the construction going on.

Sunday morning was a good time to find a few benchmarks with friends.

An accumulation of Benchmarks? Great, so we took a break on our way to Calexico, and after a bit of searching, we discoverd the first one at 8:20. Thanks and greetings from Germany, spbgh (Steffen)

Decided to walk around town after jury duty, I had loooked up nearby BM's while waiting.
Good to get out and get some exercise on this beautiful day.

having fun walking around and looking...

It took quite a while to locate all the markers around this building. Even the security officer wanted to know what I was up to.

Yup, right where it should be.

Found this entire set while benchmarking with sdstickman. If H4 exists, it is underneath ramp east of stairway entrance to the south side of the building. Nice easy starter set for newbies. Alternative designation for set: COUNTYMOUNTIE01 thru COUNTYMOUNTIE16.

Found in good shape. Easily located

Attended 1000.

Located mark in good condition.

The coordinates were a little off on this one, but I believe it's because all of the ones around this building share a few common sets of coordinates. The coordinates are useful for finding the building, after that, you will need to read the description carefully to make sure that you are recording the correct bench mark.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
