With Brattt
A nice court officer let us step into the area to get a picture. I think he thought us a bit mad since we were excited about our find.

Found while on a walk-about before going to work. Someone was being interviewed right nearby, so I had quite a few odd looks when I walked up and pulled my camera out of my bag.

This is my favorite public building in San Diego. It is also the home of the US Bankruptcy Court so others might not enjoy so much.

Benchmark location.

You can see this one on a slow drive by

Didn't want to draw too much attention by walking directly up to the building to look for this, so finally spotted it from sidewalk.

Located 1005.

There is a trail through the vegetation to this disk now.

Benchmark is still there. First BM that I have seen on a vertical surface.

My first benchmark locate, and only one block from work. There's a virtual here also, so you can have 2 for the price of one.

one of the few benchmarks i haven't taken a pic of -- since it's on the fed building

Disk there as described.

At 86 years old, this is the oldest benchmark disk that I have found. This one was easily found from the description while I was on my way to the San Diego Veteran's Day Parade. Thanks, Fort Rectus

Not too hard to find, was right were the text said it would be. Make sure you smile & say Hi to the Security Guard - He's sure to track you down.

Here's the benchmark on the Federal Building, located as described in the notes.

Here is another I found while walking around today. This one was not that hard to find since I remembered it was here from ahile ago. I will put up a picture soon.

Yes, we are finally logging this in April of the next year! We are slackers. Easy find. In good shape. Have to walk in the bushes, a bit, but it's right there and in good condition.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • This Tidal Bench Mark is designated as VM 906 by the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
