I was in the Denton area this morning and stopped by to check this one out. It was partially covered with an ant mound, but still in place.

Out riding my bike down Hwy 377 on a windy chilly October day looking for caches. I had a NCEES pathtag NS1X42 that I had found at a TB cache hotel recently that needed it's picture taken with as many benchmarks as possible on it's journey.

Found this one at the end of a long day of benchmark hunting. It is in good condition, and though the picture may be wet, the mark is stable.

i was out and about and found this one. i didn't take the other coords with me, but at home logging and i see that they are right on. real close to the road, but I snapped a picture. I will upload it in a bit.

Well it's still there, but it is close to the road. Someone has circled the marker in orange paint, but the grass has grown up on it quite a bit. This marker is on the south side of Ft. Worth Drive/US 377.

I used the coordinates from "CampinCrazy'" to find this mark.

This was my first benchmark find. My 11-year old son and I got this one. It was cool.

Note: There is a project in Denton County called "U.S. 377-Section 1 widening" The description is "From I-35E to FM 1830. Widen to a six-lane urban cross section." If this project gets legs this benchmark will be lost to the road.

Took me a little bit, but found it. Coor. are a little off, but my god, that should be expected. Will upload picture eventually.

Found this one today. Marker is in good shape but shows some wear making portions of the stamp a little difficult to read.

Tried looking for this one today but did not have much time. Unable to find this with a quick search. Not sure if this one has been destroyed or not. If it hasn't, it's under some grass.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
