This one took me a few trys to get close to as this one is right at a day labor spot so during the week this is a very busy place. Riding my bike on a late Friday afternoon and I saw that everyone had gone home so I made the quick find.

I saw this marker first, but I knew it was not a benchmark. This one is one the vertical surface of the culvert nearest Myrtle Street.
photoNot this
This one on the vertical surface is NOT the benchmark.

This is the right culvert - closest to the picnic table and points towards the Porta-Potties

Stopped by today and too many workers to stay long

It's still in place. Lots of folks out here today so it was a quick one

basically raced to and from this one.

Met up here with vincemrowe to visit the benchmark here. He'd been here awhile, I made a quick visit and got out of there. I was a bit uncomfortable. Got the benchmark and left. Thanks!

Three guys came up to me and asked if I need workers. Now I get with this area is for.

Located this benchmark after doing some shopping in the areaand on my way to dinner. It was already dark and there was still/already a worker up at the gazebo waiting. Thanks

I had to clear away some leaves and mud to find this but it's there

Easy spot with all the information from the previous logs. Benchmark is in good shape.

I drive past this little worker pickup area all the time, never knew this benchmark was here until I read about it. Paid a visit this afternoon, found it easily, and was very aware that the workers were moving away from me as I brandished a camera. :-)

Disk type benchmark in Denton, Texas

Didn't see it.

Found on a day that had seen plenty of rain, so we were glad not to slip down the sides of the culvert and fall into the creek.

Can't believe I am the first to log this benchmark since all the others have been found in Denton. Was very easy to find right where the directions said. Just realized my picture turned out pretty bad.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
