Found it after I found the Table Mesa Cache. Great view!
Found Two disks in the vacinity, one from 1924, and one from 1958 it looks like.

Recovered TABLE

Found along with marker no.2 My coordinates were N33 57.832 W112 06.995 Elevation 2873

Found all three on top of Table Mesa; hard to believe they go back to 1924

Found while geocaching on Table Mesa

Found this benchmark and both reference marks today in good condition. The large cairn marking Table is intact, which made it very easy to find at the given coordinates. RM1 is, as noted, approximately 33 feet to the east of Table, and RM2 is about the same distance to the north. Note: This benchmark is on State Trust Land, and a Recreational Use Permit is required for entry.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1924 (WM) ABOUT 34 MILES DUE NORTH OF PHOENIX, 3 MILES NORTHEAST OF NEW RIVER STATION STORE ON THE BLACK CANYON ROAD, ONE-HALF MILE EAST OF THE BLACK CANYON ROAD WHERE IT CROSSES NEW RIVER AND ON THE SUMMIT OF A PROMINENT FLAT-TOPPED LAVA HILL LYING JUST SOUTH OF NEW RIVER. STATION IS NEAR THE BLUFFS ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE MESA, AND A SHORT DISTANCE FROM THE SOUTHWEST POINT OF THE SUMMIT. MARKED BY A STANDARD BRONZE DISK. THE REFERENCE MARK, A STANDARD BRONZE REFERENCE DISK IS 10.16 METERS (33.3 FEET) FROM STATION.

A REVISED DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS-- THE STATION IS LOCATED 6.7 MILES SOUTHEAST OF ROCK SPRINGS, 0.5 MILE SOUTHWEST OF THE TT RANCH, ON THE SOUTHERLY AND HIGHEST PART OF A TABLE TOP MOUNTAIN. TO REACH FROM THE GENERAL STORE IN ROCK SPRINGS GO SOUTH ON STATE HIGHWAY 69 FOR 5.9 MILES TO A GRADED ROAD LEFT, TURN LEFT (EAST) ON GRADED ROAD AND GO 0.1 MILE TO A TRACK ROAD RIGHT, TURN RIGHT ON TRACK ROAD AND GO 0.1 MILE TO A WIRE GATE, CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD FOR 0.4 MILE TO A FORK, TAKE THE LEFT FORK AND GO 0.1 MILE TO A POWER LINE AND THE END OF TRUCK TRAVEL. PACK STRAIGHT AHEAD UP THE STEEP SLOPE TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN. TURN RIGHT TO THE HIGHEST POINT AND THE STATION. A 45 MINUTE PACK. THE STATION MARK IS A STANDARD DISK STAMPED TABLE 1924 SET IN A DRILL HOLE IN ROCK. A LARGE ROCK CAIRN IS BUILT AROUND THE STATION. THE REFERENCE MARK IS EAST OF THE STATION. IT IS A STANDARD DISK, NOT STAMPED, SET IN A DRILL HOLE IN ROCK.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1959 (RCM) THE STATION WAS RECOVERED AND THE MARKS WERE FOUND TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION. REFERENCE MARK 2 WAS ESTABLISHED. A NEW DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS--THE STATION IS ABOUT 7 MILES SOUTHEAST OF BLACK CANYON, 4 MILES NORTHEAST OF THE NEW RIVER SERVICE STATION, 1 MILE EAST OF ARIZONA STATE HIGHWAY 69, AND JUST SOUTH AND EAST OF NEW RIVER ON A HIGH, BRUSH AND CACTUS COVERED, PROMINENT, MESA. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN BLACK CANYON, GO SOUTH ON ARIZONA STATE HIGHWAY 69 FOR 7.3 MILES TO A ROAD ON THE LEFT, EAST. TURN SHARP LEFT EASTERLY, CROSSING A STOCK GUARD AND GO 0.05 MILE TO A T-ROAD RIGHT. TURN RIGHT AND GO IN A SOUTHEASTERLY DIRECTION FOR 0.3 MILE, CROSSING NEW RIVER TO THE END OF TRUCK TRAVEL. FROM HERE PACK SOUTH AND EAST TO THE TOP OF THE MESA AND THE STATION. THE STATION IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED TABLE 1924, CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN BEDROCK AND IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND. THE STATION IS ABOUT 100 YARDS EAST OF THE WEST EDGE OF THE MESA AND 35 FEET NORTH OF THE SOUTH EDGE OF THE MESA. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED TABLE NO 1 1924, CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN BEDROCK WHICH IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND AND NEAR THE SOUTH EDGE OF THE MESA. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED TABLE NO 2 1958, CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN BEDROCK WHICH PROJECTS 14 INCHES. TRIANGULATION STATION CARL CAN BE USED FOR AN AZIMUTH MARK. Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by GPS observations and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in November 1997.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
