Second find of my Del Mar Classic Mission. Lots of kids around in the backwash of this lagoon trying to learn to surf.... Excellent mark.

Recovered as previously described.

There are also benchmarks on the Southeast and Northwest wingwalls of the bridge. They are US Army Corps of Engineers discs, and are not in the NGS database.

Recovered in good condition as described with the following update to the description – the wood guardrail post is no longer connected to the guardrail. Handheld coordinates:

Another easy find! The benchmark is easily located from the directions and the coordinates were off by about 50 feet. This was my 3rd of 5 in the Cardiff / Encinitas area this afternoon. Thanks, Fort Rectus

At the northeast corner of the concrete overpass of 101 over the channel. North of Ki's Restaurant.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
