Out for a ride in the Jeep. Very nice drive up Indian Truck Trail from Corona side. Arrived at intersection with Main Divide and said "Hey a Benchmark!" So we had to log it. Headed out via Main Divide to Ortega Highway. Some sections challenging in our stock Liberty but a very nice drive.

In excellent shape. Has a nice patina, too. Makes up for DNF'ing the nearby cache, which seems to have been muggled.

Going through the benchmarks pictures and discovered this one had not been logged. Time to catch up. Found as described.

Glad to see this one was in the system. So many that we find are not. Stopped and checked it out before grabbing the nearby cache.

Easy find after finding the nearby Geocache.

Out for an afternoon of off-roading. Took Main Divide Truck Trail from the Ortega Highway to the intersection with Maple Springs Truck Trail, following the latter to Silverado Canyon Road. Found this mark right where it was supposed to be along the way.

Found while on a cache run

Found it the same way Rumpled did. Out caching and 4x4ing with a friend when we rolled past this. We stopped and backed up to see what it was and noticed the benchmark. Snapped a photo and marked the coordinates to see if it was listed. Glad to see it was. In very good condition.

I went out to roam around Maple Springs and Main Divide on this fine day.
I watched the sunset from Santiago Peak and was basically in a hurry to get home via Ortega. Very dark and getting cold out.
Just zooming along when I saw this concrete pier. I thought at first it might be a trail sign, but it was a benchmark instead.
Took a couple of pics of it and zoomed on.

Found this while caching with Boilermaker 82 and DopeyDuck.

Hard to miss this one.

Found this benchmark while caching up Saddleback mountain.

Found easily on side of the road; on a pedestal even!

Found while running the Main Divide trail after stopping here for lunch. Benchmark was easily seen at the western edge of the road. Nice view!

On a fun jeep ride today from Silverado Cyn (Maple Springs Road) to Ortega Hwy (Main Divide Road). "Stop!!, Stop!!!, a benchmark!!" I hadn't even been looking, even though I had all the data ploted. Too busy driving (fairly rough rocky, at times steep jeep trail), but just happened to see this one alongside the road. I can't imagine how the NGS could have had a problem finding it in 1961, unless it was buried, and has now eroded out of the dirt again. Seems to be a little further from than expected (about 649 ft per geocalc), from the scaled coords vs my handheld good reception w/WAAS, but still..... Will log the find with NGS.

The mountains in the background are the southern section of the Santa Ana Mountains of Southern California (Orange County / Riverside County border area). A little hazy today in that direction.

Out on a motorcycle ride with a tour group and we stopped right at this benchmark. I took a pic but I left my GPS at home so I couldn't get any coords.

Hmm... Kinda weird. An FTF of a benchmark.
Go figure.

Made a misty mountain hop today Silverado over to the 74.
Found this benchmark by the side of the road.
