Out geocaching in the area today and thought I'd use my benchmarking app. Ended up finding two today using the app, this one being one of them. Mark was a little difficult to get to since there's Haunted House construction right in front of it, but there was a "side door" way to get to the mark.

It has been awhile but I think this will last forever.

I am really enjoying benchmark hunting in the area. When I come back in December, I want to extend my range. The descriptions make these pretty easy. Also, thanks to those who went before and gave me confidence.

Stopped by this morning before work to recover. It's in great shape!

Found this while searching for a cache. My coords have it at N018 W808, though.

Spotted this while on an FTF hunt with AWEMM, Got_4by4, KnC, AlanRRT & SprayPaint. We didn't find the cache, but AWEMM stumbled on the benchmark.

Had to get this one. Too easy to pass on. Forgot to log it when I found it.

EZ to find as described and in excellent condition....(*v*)

Okay, I'll join the club by adding my log for this one. ;-)

Klemmer was kind enough to chauffeur Wintertime and me around Anaheim to pick up some benchmarks. A nice change from my central Florida haunts.

I'll add my name to the list. Came by here after one of our many visits to Disneyland.

Evidently it used to be a public Library, but it is now a museum

Hadn't tried this before and knew where it could be found having done the geocache (now archived) that is closeby. Does this count towards your cache total??? I am about to find out! TFTBM!

We too, found this one while searching for St. Patrick's Lucky Stash. Double bonus today!

During my search for near by St. Patrick's Lucky Cache (GCHTC6) my GPSr steered me to this benchmark 1st. Looks like I’m not the only one.

Thanks to a tip logged by K6RIX, we spotted this benchmark in our hometown.

Found this today while getting the St. Patrick's Lucky Cache (GCHTC6). Sometimes its just that easy!

Out hunting benchmarks and thought I would do this one in order to add pictures to the comments. The disk is in great shape and is likely to stay that way. The museum is worth the time to look around, too.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
