Another "Fault" marker. I'm not too sure how I would feel about a marker called "Fault" in my front yard..... Also, it seems a little .... unstable?

Mark area, at the top of the bank, which leads down to the street from the edge of the front lawn. Mark's monument is undercut. As it is a Tri station, I wonder if one could be sure it hadn't moved during construction....

Coords were rather good on this mark. Found at 27860 Locust in Moreno Valley. The south east corner of the yard in good condition.

AT THE SOUTH EDGE OF A CITRUS GROVE. IT IS ON THE NORTH BANK RIGHT-OF-WAY OF AN EAST-WEST DIRT ROAD, 26 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER OF THE ROAD AND ABOUT 80 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF A SMALL FRAME HOUSE. MARK IS STAMPED FAULT J 1950 AND PROJECTS 2 INCHES. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS 29 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER OF THE ROAD AND 1 FOOT SOUTH OF POWER LINE POLE NO. 15056. 01/01/1958 by CGS (MONUMENTED)
RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1958 (WFM) THE SURFACE MARK WAS FOUND TO BE A LITTLE LOOSE AND HAD BEEN DISTURBED. REFERENCE MARKS 1 AND 2 AND BENCH MARK D 375 1949 APPEARED TO BE UNDISTURBED. THE DISTANCES TO THE REFERENCE MARKS WOULD NOT CHECK, SO THE UNDERGROUND MARK WAS UNCOVERED AND THE SURFACE MARK WAS VERY CAREFULLY REPLACED OVER SAME. HOWEVER, SLIGHT DIFFERENCES IN DISTANCES WERE STILL NOTED AND THE DISTANCES SHOWN BELOW WERE DOUBLE CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE CORRECT. THE CITRUS GROVE HAS BEEN REMOVED AND THE AREA IS NOW A CULTIVATED FIELD, ALSO THE SMALL FRAME HOUSE HAS BEEN TORN DOWN. THE SURFACE MARK IS NOW FLUSH WITH THE GROUND AND IS 1 FOOT SOUTHEAST OF AN IRON FENCE POST PAINTED RED AND WHITE. HORIZONTAL DISTANCE TO--R.M. 1 --- 41.53 FEET 12.660 METERS R.M. 2 --- 52.43 FEET 15.982 METERS BM D 375 - 14.64 FEET 4.461 METERS
01/01/1962 by CGS (MONUMENTED)
RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1962 (EBB) THE STATION AND REFERENCE MARKS WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION AS DESCRIBED. BENCH MARK D 375 WAS NOT RECOVERED AND IS BELIEVED DESTROYED BY ROAD EQUIPMENT. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE INTERSECTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 60 AND REDLANDS BOULEVARD (5.0 EAST OF SUNNYMEAD). GO NORTH ON REDLANDS BOULEVARD FOR 1.25 MILE TO LOCUST STREET. TURN LEFT, WEST, ON LOCUST STREET AND GO 1.1 MILE TO THE STATION ON THE RIGHT, NORTH, SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE SMALL FRAME HOUSE AND THE CITRUS GROVE NO LONGER REMAIN.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1996. The horizontal coordinates are valid at the epoch date displayed above. The epoch date for horizontal control is a decimal equivalence of Year/Month/Day.
  • The orthometric height was scaled from a topographic map.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
