Unfortunately, all of the "Found it" logs on this landmark are erroneous. The Big A as monumented in 1974 was in the outfield of Anaheim Stadium. It was not in the parking lot where all of these logs are claiming to have found it. I snapped a photo of it today to claim it as found, but after seeing its location on the map, reading the description, and looking at old photos, this landmark is clearly destroyed as it is no longer in its monumented position.

Here you can clearly see the benchmark was monumented out past left field on the edge of the original stadium configuration. You can see the erroneous landmark that is being claimed out in the parking lot.

Here you can see the original position of the Big A Scoreboard Light from the 1970s.

I learned about this particular benchmark a couple of weeks ago, although I've known about it since the stadium was built back in the mid 60s. I attended many a game here over the years and celebrated with one of my best friends when the Angels finally came through and won the World Series in 2002. Hoping I don't have to wait as long for the next one.

Benchmark is in good shape, although the "scoreboard" has moved. In fact, it's no longer the actual scoreboard, but more of a marquee sign to be seen from the freeway.

First try:
Cool.??

Second try:
Quite simply searched, found, finished ...

And now again right:
On our way from Leipzig on vacation to New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Niagara Falls, Cleveland, Toledo, Chicago, Sioux City, Badlands NP, Mount Rushmore, Bighorn Mountains, Cody, Yellowstone NP, Jackson, Grand Teton NP, Salt Lake City, Bryce Canyon NP, Lake Powell, Grand Canyon, Williams, Las Vegas, Mojave Desert, Los Angeles, Visalia, Yosemite NP, Modesto and San Francisco we came right here. Of course, we also wanted this one GeoCache / Benchmark on the To-Do list to pick up. And now there is a smiling face. There were no problems ... Yes, the destination fits. Thus: the end is good, all right ...

In other words:
Everything is there, where it belongs, undamaged and waiting for the next visitors.

Now we like to say:
Thank you for your GeoCache / Benchmark and another smiley on our map.

Greetings from Mrs. Lu and Mr. Lu

I happened to do a benchmark search after finding Little Pest, so I took a nice photo of this benchmark and will post it here.

Another really big benchmark that's hard to miss. ;-)

Out in Anaheim for the FoodieFest, then off to an Angels game. Couldn't miss this one if I tried.

I see This Benchmark Daily. Can you see the Halo!

I love it! It would never have even dawned on me that The Big A sign contains a benchmark. I've driven by it many, many times and we're season ticket holders at Angel Stadium so we see it at every home game that we attend. Needless to say, I found it while attending the Angel home opener with my wife, G&C and our daughter-in-law.

I didn't realize that this was a BM! Found it today (among many, many other times) on Opening Night at the Big A! Halos beat the Twins, 6-3! LIGHT UP THE HALO!

Doing caches in the area and drove right by this one....nice Benchmark,,,,

Sort of makes a person laugh, I was here before the benchmark. It fun to think I've driven by this place a million times and never thought of it as a bnch mark. We are down from Oregon visiting friends, got to go back in a few days.

LORZ, Bandon, OR

There's an Anaheim BM that is West of the River on Orangewood (North side), so I took an image from there this Afternoon.

As many times I having by here, it is hard to imagine that I have missed this benchmark in the past. Made a point to stop and view the light today.

Who knew this whole time!

Something new in this geo world of finding stuff and exploring, which BikeNFind showed me, will it ever end?

Kinda hard to miss

~~ YOU'RE KIDDING ME!!!! OK, I've been here all this time and now I see this [RED]LIGHT[/RED]![BROWN]
~~ I FOUND THIS BENCHMARK !!! ~~[/BROWN]

Have seen this soooo many times. Didn't know it was a benchmark till today. Always thought of it as the Big "A" landmark.

Found it while in town for business. Stayed across the street at the Hilton Suites.

photoView from the parking lot entrance of the stadium

Viewed it from Reference Point DX4742 (Portola Junior High School, City of Orange). It was plainly visible from there and I was West of Feldner on Maple Avenue.

Also, I went North on the Santa Ana River Trail (SART) from Chapman and found a nice water fountain on Rampart below Orangewood (Fire Training Center) so I took a nice shot of it from the Trail.

I've been here.

You know they moved the Big A in the early 1980's, when they built seats all the way around Anaheim Stadium, so the red light beacon has moved from it's original location when the mark was first monumented.
