Found it

Found the "REFERENCE MARK NO 1" which was clearly visible as the previous poster noted. Will try again, but could not find the other marks, including the primary horizontal station. At a minimum, they will require some digging. My guess is that the previous poster also found the reference mark, not the primary.

Located reference mark easily, but not the other marks.

Found this benchmark in relatively good condition. Be careful--it sits right in the middle of a big fire ant mound!

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in September 1997.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
