01/01/1961 by CGS (SEE DESCRIPTION)
RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1961 (VRS) RECOVERED ALL MARKS IN GOOD CONDITION ESSENTIALLY AS ORIGINALLY DESCRIBED. STATION AND AZIMUTH MARKS WERE DESTROYED AFTER THE ESTABLISHMENT OF BROOKS 2 1961 FOR WHICH SEE DESCRIPTION THEREOF. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 MONUMENT WAS RESET AS R.M. NO. 3 OF THE NEW STATION AND THE NO. 2 MONUMENT WAS LEFT ON TOP OF THE GROUND NEAR THE NEW STATION MARK SO THAT IT MAY BE SET AS R.M. NO. 4 WHEN THE RIGHT-OF-WAY FENCES MAY HAVE BEEN RESET AFTER COMPLETION OF HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT CONSTRUCTION. BOTH STATION MARK DISKS AND THAT OF THE ORIGINAL AZIMUTH MARK WERE RECLAIMED. ALL ORIGINAL MARKS WERE ALSO BENCH MARKS, AND THE ELEVATION OF ALL NEW MARKS WAS DETERMINED. THE ORIGINAL AZIMUTH MARK HAD BEEN TRAVERSED BY THE WORK OF GEORGIA GEODETIC SURVEY. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE OLD AND NEW AZIMUTH MARKS WAS MEASURED WITH A 300-FOOT TAPE TO THE NEAREST ONE-TENTH OF A FOOT TO BE 473.2 FEET. FROM LEVEL NOTES THE STADIA DISTANCE BETWEEN THE TWO MARKS IS DEDUCED AS 470 FEET.
