DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1972 (JLC) THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 5 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF ROSSVILLE, 4 MILES NORTHWEST OF CHICKAMAUGA, ON THE SOUTH END OF MISSIONARY RIDGE, AND ON PROPERTY OWNED BY THE ONEAL DEVELOPEMENT COMPANY. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN CHICKAMAUGA, GO NORTH ON STATE ROUTE 341 FOR 0.8 MILE TO A FORK. TAKE THE LEFT FORK AND GO NORTHWESTERLY ON ROUTE 341 FOR 2.3 MILES TO THE WALLACEVILLE BAPTIST CHURCH ON THE LEFT. CONTINUE WESTERLY ON ROUTE 341 FOR 0.4 MILE TO A PAVED SIDE ROAD ON THE RIGHT. TURN RIGHT AND GO NORTH, UPHILL, FOR 0.7 MILE TO A SILVER STANDPIPE AND THE STATION MARK ON THE LEFT. CONTINUE NORTH FOR 0.1 MILE TO A DRIVEWAY AND REFERENCE MARK 3 ON THE LEFT. THE STATION MARKS ARE STANDARD DISKS STAMPED ONEAL 1971. THE SURFACE DISK IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 38 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF THE PAVED ROAD, 9.6 FEET SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF A WIRE, CHAIN LINK, FENCE WHICH ENCLOSES THE STANDPIPE AND ABOUT 2 FEET ABOVE THE ROAD SURFACE. THE UNDERGROUND DISK IS SET IN THE TOP OF AN IRREGULAR MASS OF CONCRETE WHICH IS 40 INCHES BELOW THE GROUND SURFACE. REFERENCE MARK 1, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED ONEAL NO 1 1971, IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH PROJECTS 6 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 41 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF A PAVED ROAD, 35 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF THE PAVED ROAD AND 20 FEET NORTH-NORTHEAST OF A POWERLINE POLE. REFERENCE MARK 2, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED ONEAL NO 2 1971, IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 105 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF THE PAVED ROAD AND 4.6 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE WIRE FENCE. REFERENCE MARK 3, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED ONEAL NO 3 1971, IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE.   • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in September 1997.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
