DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1972 (JLC) THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 11.5 MILES NORTH-NORTHWEST OF LA FAYETTE, 8.5 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF ROSSVILLE, 2 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF CHICKAMAUGA, ON HIGHEST POINT OF A WOODED KNOLL AND ON PROPERTY OWNED BY MR. LANE MOORE, LAKEVIEW, GEORGIA, TELEPHONE NUMBER 866-0450. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN CHICKAMAUGA, GO SOUTH ON STATE ROUTE 341, COVE ROAD, FOR 1 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD RIGHT AT SIGN, BETHLEHAM BAPTIST CHURCH 3 MILES. TURN RIGHT AND GO WESTERLY ON A PAVED ROAD FOR 1 MILE TO A DRIVEWAY AND THE AZIMUTH MARK ON THE LEFT. CONTINUE WESTERLY ON THE PAVED ROAD FOR 0.1 MILE TO THE HOME OF MR. JOHN W. BRADLEY ON THE RIGHT. BEAR RIGHT AND GO WESTERLY, CROSSING THE SOUTH EDGE OF MR. BRADLEYS YARD, FOR ABOUT 100 FEET TO A DIM WOODS ROAD. CONTINUE IN A WESTERLY DIRECTION ON THE WOODS ROAD FOR 0.3 MILE TO WHERE THE ROAD TURNS SHARP LEFT INTO THICK WOODS. TURN LEFT AND GO SOUTH, UPHILL, FOR ABOUT 100 YARDS TO END OF THE ROAD AND THE STATION MARK. THE STATION MARKS ARE STANDARD DISKS STAMPED MAUGA 1972. THE SURFACE DISK IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH PROJECTS 3 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 12.2 FEET EAST-NORTHEAST OF A 12-INCH TRIANGLE BLAZED OAK TREE AND 4.8 FEET NORTH OF A METAL WITNESS POST. THE UNDERGROUND DISK IS SET IN THE TOP OF AN IRREGULAR MASS OF CONCRETE ABOUT 38 INCHES BELOW THE GROUND SURFACE. REFERENCE MARK 1, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED MAUGA NO 1 1972, SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH PROJECTS 4 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 77 FEET NORTH OF THE METAL WITNESS POST, 22 FEET SOUTH OF A 14-INCH TRIANGLE BLAZED PINE TREE AND 7 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER OF THE WOODS ROAD AND ABOUT 3 FEET LOWER THAN THE STATION MARK. REFERENCE MARK 2, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED MAUGA NO 2 1972, SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH PROJECTS 4 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 47.5 FEET EAST-SOUTHEAST OF THE METAL WITNESS POST, 4 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A 10-INCH Y-FORKED PINE TREE AND ABOUT 2 FEET LOWER THAN THE STATION MARK. THE AZIMUTH MARK, A STANDARD DISK STAMPED MAUGA 1972, IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE MONUMENT WHICH PROJECTS 5 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 67 FEET NORTH OF A TELEPHONELINE POLE, 27 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF THE PAVED ROAD, 14 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER OF THE DRIVEWAY AND 2 FEET NORTH OF A FENCE CORNER. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 26.3 METERS.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in September 1997.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
