Recovered in good condition as described with the following update to the description - the Disk is set in the top of a 3 foot by 4 foot by 1.5 foot high boulder, 36 feet North of the centerline of a track road. Stamping is 4692.084 W21 1929. Handheld coordinates:
N 34° 10.371 W 111° 20.625 (NAD 83).

Updated to reach follows - from the Old Payson Road exit off of Arizona State Highway 87, take Old Payson Road South (FS 537) for 0.4 miles to a track road on the right. Turn Right and go West on the Track Road for 100 feet to the Station on the right.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1933 4.9 MI S FROM PAYSON. AT SIDE OF HIGHWAY, OPPOSITE OX BOW HILL GRADE SUMMIT, 0.25 MILES WEST OF OX BOW SERVICE STATION, 100 FEET NORTHWEST OF HIGHWAY CENTER-LINE, ON LEDGE OF GRANITE.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
