Found RM 2 in good condition at N 34 18.643 W 110 56.442

Recovered Station Mark, Reference Mark 1, and Reference Mark 2 in good condition as described with the following update to the description - the Pine Tree and Witness sign are gone, and the Mark is located 2.0 feet Northeast of the crack in the rim. The Azimuth Mark was not searched for at this time.

Recovered mark and reference marks as described. Mark is under about 1" of gravel midway between the reference marks.

Triangulation station disk was not found. The two reference disks were found. Unfortunately I neglected to bring the station's distances to the reference points from the 'original datasheet'. There was a fair amount of mud and gravel on the rock where the station should be.

DESCRIBED BY ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION 1984 (BK) THE STATION IS LOCATED 21 MILES SOUTHWEST OF HEBER, 22 MILES NORTHEAST OF PAYSON, 1/2 MILE NORTH OF STATE ROUTE 260 AND ON THE EDGE OF THE MOGOLLON RIM. THE STATION MARK IS AN AZDT DISK STAMPED---VIEW 1984---. IT IS SET IN A DRILL HOLE IN BEDROCK 6 FEET NORTH OF THE RIM AND 4-1/2 FEET SOUTH OF A 10 INCH PINE TREE WITH WITNESS SIGN. REFERENCE MARK 1 IS AN AZDT DISK STAMPED---VIEW RM 1 1984---. IT IS SET IN A DRILL HOLE IN BEDROCK. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS AN AZDT DISK STAMPED---VIEW RM 2 1984---. IT IS SET IN A DRILL HOLE IN BEDROCK. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN PAYSON TRAVEL EAST ALONG MAIN STREET FOR 0.6 MILE TO STATE ROUTE 87. TURN LEFT ALONG SR 87 FOR 0.7 MILE TO THE JUNCTION WITH STATE ROUT 260. TURN RIGHT ALONG SR 260 AND TRAVEL EAST FOR 30.0 MILES TO THE TOP OF THE MOGOLLON RIM AND A PAVED ROAD ON THE LEFT WHICH LEADS TO WOODS CANYON LAKE. TURN LEFT AND TRAVEL WEST ALONG THE MOGOLLON RIM FOR 2.7 MILES AND THE STATION ON THE LEFT.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in August 1993.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
