SURFACE AND UNDERGROUND MARKS ARE BRONZE DISKS SET IN CONCRETE. AN ECCENTRIC POINT USED FOR MAGNETIC OBSERVATIONS, MARKED BY A NAIL IN MESQUITE STAKE 2-1/2 INCHES IN DIAMETER AND 2 FEET LONG PROJECTING ABOUT 4 INCHES AND SURROUNDED BY A PILE OF SMALL ROCKS, IS 73.365 METERS (240.70 FEET) NW OF THE STATION. BARLOW BOUNDARY MONUMENT NO. 1 IS 2.30 METERS (7.5 FEET) FROM STATION N 87 DEG 04 MIN W.

STATION IS ABOUT 11 MILES W AND 4 MILES N OF AGUILA, IN LOW SANDY DESERT COUNTRY, 7 FEET E OF THE YUMA-YAVAPAI COUNTY LINE, AND 148 FEET N OF THE MARICOPA-YAVAPAI COUNTY LINE. STATION MARK IS A BRONZE STATION DISK SET IN A 12-INCH-SQUARE CONCRETE POST FLUSH WITH THE GROUND AND IS STAMPED INITIAL MONUMENT 1923. IT IS ABOUT 7 FEET E OF A COUNTY-LINE MONUMENT AND 147.7 FEET N OF A COUNTY-CORNER MONUMENT MARKED MARICOPA COUNTY 1924, YAVAPAI COUNTY 1924, COR. TO REACH STATION FROM AGUILA, GO N ACROSS THE RAILROAD TRACKS FROM THE POST OFFICE FOR 1.7 MILES TO A LEFT FORK LEAVING MAIN GRAVEL ROAD, TAKE LEFT FORK AND CONTINUE 0.2 MILE TO A CATTLE GUARD, CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD FOR 2.0 MILES TO A SHARP CORNER WHERE THE MAIN ROAD TURNS LEFT, TURN LEFT AND FOLLOW THE MAIN ROAD FOR 2.8 MILES TO A FORK WHERE THE MAIN ROAD BEARS RIGHT AT SIGN BULLARD. KEEP RIGHT WHICH IS ABOUT STRAIGHT AHEAD AND CONTINUE ON DIM TRACKS FOR 0.4 MILE TO AN EARTH TANK, CONTINUE STRAIGHT AHEAD FOR 0.6 MILE TO THE AZIMUTH MARK. TURN N AND GO CROSS COUNTRY FOR 1.0 MILE TO THE STATION WHICH IS EASILY FOUND DUE TO ITS BEING NEAR THE LARGE COUNTY MONUMENTS.

G 301 TO FOCUS ON SO DEGREES AND MINUTES ONLY WERE TAKEN. THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 11 MILES AIRLINE NORTHWEST OF AGUILA, ON THE VALLEY FLOOR, ABOUT 3 MILES AIRLINE SOUTH OF THE BASE OF THE MOUNTAINS, 52 PACES NORTH-NORTHEAST OF THE MARICOPA-YAVAPAI COUNTY BOUNDARY MONUMENT, 7 FEET EAST OF THE YUMA COUNTY BOUNDARY MONUMENT, A BRONZE DISK SET IN A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT, FLUSH, AND IS STAMPED, INITIAL MONUMENT 1923. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS A 4 INCH METAL PIPE, WHICH PROJECTS ABOUT 5 FEET FROM THE CONCRETE BASE OF THE YUMA COUNTY BOUNDARY MONUMENT. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS APPROXIMATELY THE SAME ELEVATION AS THE STATION, 16 PACES NORTHWEST OF THE YUMA COUNTY BOUNDARY MONUMENT, A BRONZE DISK SET IN A SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT, FLUSH, AND IS STAMPED, INITIAL MONUMENT 1944. THE AZIMUTH MARK IS A YUMA COUNTY-MARICOPA COUNTY BOUNDARY MARKER. IT IS LOCATED ALONG ROUTE TO STATION, 1.1 MILE BY ROAD NORTHWEST OF LAST WINDMILL MENTIONED IN DESCRIPTION, 65 PACES WEST OF AN OLD FENCE POST, 5 PACES SOUTHWEST OF CENTER LINE OF TRACK ROAD TO STATION, AT POINT WHERE ROAD TURNS NORTH, 4 FEET NORTH OF A 4X4 WITNESS POST, A 4 INCH CAP RIVETED ON TOP OF AN 3-1/2 INCH IRON PIPE, WHICH PROJECTS 18 INCHES, AND IS INSCRIBED, YUMA COUNTY 1918 MARICOPA COUNTY. TO REACH FROM THE SHELL SERVICE STATION ON THE EAST SIDE OF WENDEN. GO EAST ON U.S. HIGHWAYS 60 AND 70 FOR 13.5 MILES TO A ROAD LEFT (N) OVER CATTLE GUARD. (THIS IS 0.9 MILE AFTER PASSING YUMA-MARICOPA COUNTY LINE). TURN LEFT (N), CROSS CATTLE GUARD AND GO 0.65 MILE TO GATE AT GOLDEN RAILROAD STATION. PASS THROUGH, CROSS TRACKS, TO ANOTHER GATE. PASS THROUGH AND TURN RIGHT (E) AND FOLLOW FENCE LINE FOR 0.15 MILE TO THE INTERSECTION OF A T ROAD FROM THE NORTH. TURN LEFT (N) AND FOLLOW TRACK ROAD FOR 1.8 MILE TO GATE ON LEFT. CONTINUE NORTH ALONG FENCE LINE FOR 0.4 MILE TO FEEDING PENS AND TROUGHS. CONTINUE NORTHEAST, TOWARD THE EAST END OF MOUNTAINS TO NORTH, ALONG DIM TRACKS FOR 2.2 MILES TO A WIRE GATE. CONTINUE NORTH ALONG TRACK ROAD FOR 1.2 MILE TO A CORRAL, WINDMILL AND WATER TANKS. PASS CORRAL ON RIGHT AND FOLLOW TRACK ROAD STRAIGHT AHEAD (N) FOR 1.1 MILE TO A CROSSROAD. TURN LEFT (W) AND GO 0.35 MILE TO AZIMUTH MARK AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. TURN RIGHT (N) AND FOLLOW DIM TRACKS FOR 1.0 MILE TO THE STATION AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. A DRIVE STATION. OBSERVATIONS MADE FROM A 3.4 METER TRIPOD.

RECOVERY NOTE BY US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY 1962 REACHED FROM AGUILA BY FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS TO CACTUS BUT PROCEED AN ADDITIONAL 2.25 MILES WEST TO SECTION CORNER 29, 30, 31, 32. STATION IS 330 FEET S 40 E OF SECTION CORNER. 7.5 FEET EAST OF A 6 FOOT 4 INCH PIPE ABOVE A CONCRETE BLOCK WHICH IS A COUNTY MONUMENT. TRUCK CAN BE DRIVEN TO STATION.

RECOVERY NOTE BY ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION 1984 (BK) THE STATION MARK AND REFERENCE MARKS WERE RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. THE AZIMUTH MARK WAS NOT SEARCHED FOR. A NEW ROUTE TO THE STATION FOLLOWS. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE POST OFFICE IN AGUILA TRAVEL WEST ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 60 FOR 0.35 MILE TO EAGLE EYE ROAD. TURN RIGHT AND TRAVEL NORTH FOR 4 MILES TO A DIRT CROSS ROAD. TURN LEFT AND TRAVEL WEST FOR 6.55 MILES TO A FORK. TAKE THE RIGHT FORK NORTH AROUND A CORRAL FOR 0.2 MILE TO A GATE. PASS THROUGH GATE AND CONTINUE WEST FOR 2.7 MILES TO T8N R10W NW 32 ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE STATION IS ABOUT 340 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THIS SECTION CORNER.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in August 1993.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
