I have an earthcache here and thought I'd already logged this, but apparently I did not.

Found this one while grabbing a nearby earth cache.

For some reason I didn't grab this one when I got the other years ago. Snagged it while doing the earthcache nearby.

Found it with the Peachie in the dark -- a lovely old depot though, and historic too :)

This benchmark is in good shape, located as previously described. The stairway depicted on older pictures is gone, and the white picket fence has been replaced with a black iron fence. Coordinates with this post are derived from GoogleEarth.

Was out walking around the old fort today and went in search of this, had both original and updated coords. The updated are much better.

As you can see it was telling me I was 28 ft away but easy to spot when you get within range!

Found with SecondGunman

Found the marker right where the description said it would be. Cardinal's coordinates are much closer than the "official" set.

Did not check the cords but it was right where the discription said.

A neat BM in an old building. My coordinates are not the best but better than the posted ones.

Easy find. Also saw this benchmark in a historic photo of the train station at the library - obviously taken after 1932. This was our FIRST benchmark find.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
