I have to agree with Ashallond that this one is gone. The gravel road 1/2 block east of HWY 71 is no longer there. 26' south of the center of South G street does put you basically on a line between two telephone poles, one at the corner of Towson and South G and the other at the corner of South 12th St and South G, but the powerline pole in the 1985 description is no longer present. The 40x40' metal shed has been torn down to make way for a parking lot. There are 5 two-foot manhole covers in the immediate area. In short, the only reference point mentioned in the previous description is South G Street.....

I believe this is under the new parking lots. Would love someone with better direction sense to confirm my educated guess.

Found this one while in the area caching. Thought we'd log another Benchmark. Rock-6

This was still in great condition along with the whitness pole

Found it.

This one was easy. There is an orange marker just about 10 inches SW of the marker.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
