Recovered in good condition. Didn't feel like crossing the fence so I just zoomed in as much as the camera would allow. Got a good clear shot that can be easily read.

Benchmark A328 recovered as described in good condition. The road is now paved, and it is the road to Searchlight, Nevada. This mark is approximately 10 feet south of the highway right-of-way fence.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1949 1.1 MI E FROM NIPTON. 1.1 MILES EAST ALONG A COUNTY GRADED ROAD FROM THE UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD STATION AT NIPTON, ABOUT 0.1 MILE WEST OF THE JUNCTION OF A PORTION OF THE OLD SEARCHLIGHT ROAD, 138 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, 30 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF A DRY WASH, 3.0 FEET SOUTH OF A WITNESS POST, ABOUT 1 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE ROAD, AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 0.5 FOOT ABOVE GROUND.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in 1992. * This is a POSTED BENCH MARK height. Code A indicates a distribution rate of 0.0 thru 1.0 mm/km.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
