This was a great recovery of a beautiful old benchmark with some good friends. The rough dirt road departs Lanfair Rd to the Southwest at N35°01.917', W115°08.692. Four wheel drive vehicle recommended. Drive as far as desired / safe. Watch for the "quail guzzler" http://www.gameandfishmag.com/hunting/upland-birds-hunting/RA_1205_08A.jpg on the left. Head up the ridge beyond it (foot or jeep, at your discretion), then on foot down the next hill. The old rail bed is almost impossible to see, but there were a few old telegraph poles still standing. Trying to roughly line them up led us eventually to find the "copper stone monument". This is actually a pile of rocks that show a lot of green color, indicating it is copper bearing ore. Was it ever really a "monument"? Could be an interesting story. Following the indicated direction from the copper stone monument Northwest to the stone benchmark was relatively easy.

We found this Post with the help of some friends. We found the drive that took us in the direction we needed to get us off the main road and a little closer to the mark. We drove as far as we could, then the 4 of us took off on foot in the general direction to try to spot any of the things mentioned in the description. Bobby (southpawaz) spotted the copper rock monument first. John paced off the distance and direction that was stated in the description and spotted the white granite post from about 30 ft. away. YAHOO! Fantastic to find this one after it had 2 DNFs last logged on it (one of those by the USGS) and no rail road bed nor building foundations and only a couple of poles spotted in the distance. The witness post is laying on the ground close by.

Note: Be careful of the bushes, they bite.

Lat/Long way off. Not even sure we found the location of the old RR station. Pretty sure we were on the grade tho.
