Close to Cache

Station mark recovered in the described location. In addition, two Reference Marks were found that are not documented on the NGS datasheet. Using a fiberglass tape measure and handheld compass, the Reference Marks documented as follows:
RM1: 34.75 feet at 353° magnetic bearing from the station
RM2: 50.50 feet at 68° magnetic bearing from the station

Notice the painted arrow on the concrete surrounding the disk. The disk arrow and the painted arrow didn't quite align with each other, or point very exactly to the mark, but just in the general direction.

You would think that painting an arrow that was aligned with the arrow on the disk wouldn't be that difficult. Oh well.

It's fiberglass, and in theory might stretch, but I didn't notice any.

Found in good condition at entrance to Mohave Road off US 95. Found azimuth and RM 1 and RM 2.

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by GPS observations and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in May 2000. This is a SPECIAL STATUS position. See SPECIAL STATUS under the DATUM ITEM on the data sheet items page. The horizontal coordinates are valid at the epoch date displayed above. The epoch date for horizontal control is a decimal equivalence of Year/Month/Day.
  • The orthometric height was determined by GPS observations and a high-resolution geoid model.
  • The X, Y, and Z were computed from the position and the ellipsoidal ht.
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The ellipsoidal height was determined by GPS observations and is referenced to NAD 83.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
