Driving from Orange County to Morro Bay today and doing a few detours. On a trip with Irvine Valley College on a geology field study. We stopped here for lunch for 45 minutes, enough time to break away and find this benchmark which was by accident. Just happened to look in the right place.

Easy find while Waymarking in the park.

Always post photos of benchmarks with your logs. How else do you prove you found them?

My first time in Paso Robles. An easy find on the steps of the library.

Dragged my folks to an easy find. They weren't impressed. The designator "750" is not very clear.

Found while walking in the park on concert night.

Out caching and ran across this one.

found it where its suppose to be

I'm sure it's still there but because of an earthquake a couple of years ago the library has been gated off. So, finally got over there to finally nab this one.

Found at N35 37.582 W120 41.406 (7m HH2 accuracy). Sure glad they restored/retrofitted this building, home of the El Paso de Robles Area Historical Society. It was a Carnegie Library designed by William H. Weeks - http://www.carnegie-libraries.org/california/pasorobles.html if you are curious.

I have been waiting for the construction to end for over a year now to log this one. It is on the east side of the stairs which face the north. EZ to find.

Carnegie supported libraries and benchmarks.

After a day of winetasting, did a little geocaching and benchmarking. Looked for this mark after dinner, so it was getting quite dark. As previously noted, the Library has moved to a new location and the building has been fenced off. I was unable to get any closer than about 20 feet. I think I was able to locate the mark, but could not get close enough to verify. Also too dark to photograph.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
