This isn't the Mark. How could I have missed it? I looked high and low maybe it's gone. Best way to get to the Mark is to come in from the west side of the pier and around the complex. The real Mark is several feet to the NW. I'm just going to have to go back and verify whether the Mark is there, one more time.

7/24/2017: I'm changing this Mark to FOUND:DESTROYED! Yes, I am yelling about it! It looks as though someone has forcefully taken this out of its mounting and to "kick a dead horse", built a fire over the scene of the crime to honor their "accomplishment". N 35° 10.673 W 120° 44.482

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • This Tidal Bench Mark is designated as VM 12546 by the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
