Found as described, except that it seemed more like the south side of the building rather than the east side. Filed recovery report with NGS.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1989 2.1 KM (1.30 MI) WESTERLY ALONG AVILA ROAD FROM THE JUNCTION OF FRONT STREET IN AVILA BEACH, IN THE SIDEWALK ALONG THE EAST SIDE OF THE PORT SAN LUIS HEADQUARTERS, 11.2 M (36.7 FT) NORTH-NORTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE BUILDING, 2.0 M (6.6 FT) EAST OF THE EAST FACE OF THE BUILDING, 0.3 M (1.0 FT) SOUTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF A WALL, AND LEVEL WITH THE SIDEWALK.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991.
  • This Tidal Bench Mark is designated as VM 954 by the Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
