The brass disk surrounded by asphalt is still as shown in the photo by Geotrailblazer-1 but now has a spotty layer of gravel over it. Just to the west, in the grass and not far from the road, is a brass disk giving the elevation which is said to be the highest elevation in Benton County.

REFERENCE AND AZIMUTH MARKS ARE STANDARD BRONZE DISKS SET IN CONCRETE AS DESCRIBED. STATION MARK IS ON HIGHEST PART OF WOODED, ROUND-TOPPED HILL, 10 FEET NE OF WHITE REFERENCE POST. IT IS A STANDARD DISK STAMPED POOR 1940, AND IS SET IN A BOULDER WHICH PROJECTS 4 INCHES. REFERENCE MARK NO. 1 IS NNE OF THE STATION, ABOUT 1 FOOT LOWER THAN STATION, IS STAMPED POOR NO. 1 1940, AND PROJECTS 4 INCHES. REFERENCE MARK NO. 2 IS W BY N OF THE STATION, ABOUT 1 FOOT LOWER, IS STAMPED POOR NO. 2 1940, AND PROJECTS 4 INCHES. TO REACH FROM THE RAILROAD DEPOT IN GARFIELD GO E ON GRAVELED ROAD ALONG N SIDE OF RAILROAD TRACKS FOR 0.15 MILE AND TURN RIGHT (S), CROSS TRACKS AND FOLLOW ROAD E FOR 0.6 MILE TO FORKS, TAKE LEFT FORK AND FOLLOW MAIN ROAD S AND E FOR 3.7 MILES TO FARM ENTRANCE ROAD ON THE RIGHT, TURN RIGHT ON THIS FARM ENTRANCE AND GO 0.2 MILE TO HOUSE AND BARN, TAKE LEFT FORK JUST S OF THE BARN AND GO THROUGH FIELD ENTRANCE, WIRE GATE, INTO WOODED PASTURE, FOLLOW DIM TRAIL S UP HILL FOR 0.4 MILE TO THE AZIMUTH MARK ON LEFT SIDE OF THE TRAIL, CONTINUE S UP HILL FOR 0.2 MILE TO HIGHEST POINT AND THE STATION. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK - 14 METERS.

RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1961 (BRB) THE STATION AND REFERENCE MARK 2 WERE RECOVERED. THE AZIMUTH MARK AND REFERENCE MARK 1 WERE BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN DESTROYED BY BULLDOZERS CLEARING TREES FROM HILLTOP. THE DIRECTION TO REFERENCE MARK 2 CHECKED AND A SHORTER MEASUREMENT OF .005 METERS WAS FOUND. THE TREES NORTH OF THE STATION HAVE BEEN CLEARED FROM HILLTOP AND THE WITNESS POST WAS MISSING. THE STATION COULD NOT BE REACHED FROM THE NORTH SIDE OF HILL AS THE DESCRIPTION STATED. TWO NEW REFERENCE MARKS 3 AND 4 WERE ESTABLISHED AT THIS TIME. THE PROPERTY OWNER HAS CHANGED. A COMPLETE NEW DESCRIPTION AND TO REACH FOLLOWS. THE STATION IS ABOUT 10 MILES WEST OF EUREKA SPRINGS, ABOUT 5 MILES SOUTHEAST OF THE SMALL VILLAGE OF GARFIELD, ON THE SOUTH END AND HIGHEST PART OF A MOUNTAIN KNOWN LOCALLY AS POOR MOUNTAIN. IT IS AT THE SOUTH EDGE OF A CLEARED AREA, ON THE PROPERTY OF MR. J.B. KILBY AND IS IN THE SOUTHWEST 1/4 OF SECTION 13, T. 20 N., R. 28 W. IT IS 3 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A WITNESS POST AND 30 FEET EAST OF A 10 INCH OAK TREE WITH A TRIANGULAR BLAZE ON THE NORTH SIDE. THE DISK IS SET FLUSH IN A DRILL HOLE IN OUTCROPPING BEDROCK, FLUSH WITH THE GROUND. THE DISK IS STAMPED POOR 1940. TO REACH FROM THE GARFIELD SCHOOL IN THE VILLAGE OF GARFIELD, GO SOUTHEAST ON HIGHWAY 62 FOR 0.05 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD RIGHT. TURN SHARP RIGHT AND GO WEST ON A GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.05 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD LEFT. TURN LEFT AND GO SOUTH ACROSS RAILROAD TRACK FOR 0.05 MILE TO A Y-FORK. KEEP LEFT AND GO SOUTHEAST ON A GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.6 MILE TO A Y-FORK. KEEP LEFT AND FOLLOW MAIN TRAVELED ROAD (GRAVELED) SOUTHEAST FOR 1.8 MILES TO WHERE MAIN ROAD CURVES RIGHT. TURN RIGHT AND GO SOUTH ON MAIN TRAVELED, GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.85 MILE TO A REVERSE Y. KEEP LEFT AND GO EAST ON A GRAVELED ROAD FOR 0.9 MILE TO A Y-FORK. KEEP RIGHT AND GO EAST AND SOUTH ON A TRACK ROAD FOR 0.75 MILE TO A HOUSE ON THE LEFT. CONTINUE SOUTH ON THE TRACK ROAD FOR 0.1 MILE TO A DIM TRACK ROAD LEFT. TURN LEFT AND GO EAST UP HILL ON THE TRACK ROAD FOR 0.2 MILE TO REFERENCE MARK 4 ON THE LEFT. CONTINUE EAST ON DIM ROAD FOR 0.05 MILE TO THE STATION. REFERENCE MARK 2 IS 12 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE DIM ROAD, 16 FEET NORTH OF A TWIN TRUNK 36 INCH OAK TREE AND 80 FEET WEST OF THE WITNESS POST. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 3 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED POOR NO 2 1940. REFERENCE MARK 3 IS 27 FEET NORTHEAST OF A 7 INCH OAK TREE AND 26 FEET NORTHWEST OF AN 8 INCH OAK TREE. THE MONUMENT IS FLUSH AND THE DISK IS STAMPED POOR NO 3 1940. REFERENCE MARK 4 IS 8 FEET SOUTH OF A WITNESS POST, 16 FEET SOUTH OF A 30 INCH OAK TREE AND 43 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF DIM ROAD LEADING TO STATION. THE MONUMENT PROJECTS 4 INCHES AND THE DISK IS STAMPED POOR NO 4 1940. THE DIRECTION TO REFERENCE MARK 4 WAS OBTAINED BY PRECISE METHODS. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 22 METERS.
