Found this pipe laying on the ground about a hundred feet from where my GPSr was telling to look for the benchmark. It pretty much fits the description on the datasheet. The copper disk is stamped with USC&G on the top and B.M. on the bottom. So, from the photos you can see this mark is not destroyed, but it's safe to say it is out of position.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in December 1993.
  • The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
  • The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC99 derived deflections.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
