DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1934 3.1 MI NE FROM TUBA CITY. 3.1 MILES NORTHEAST ALONG THE OLD TONALEA ROAD FROM TUBA CITY, COCONINO COUNTY, 1.4 MILES NORTHEAST OF A SMALL CREEK, ABOUT 1/2 MILE SOUTHWEST OF A ROW OF POLES, AND 60 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE ROAD. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED J 50 1934 AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST. NOTE-- TUBA CITY, JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 164 AND STATE HIGHWAY 264. 2.1 MILES NORTHEAST OF ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 164, 256 FT. SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF THE HIGHWAY AT A SIDE ROAD JUNCTION. 60 FT. SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE SIDE ROAD. SET IN A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 0.6 FT. USC AND GS BENCH MARK STAMPED J 50 1934.

RECOVERY NOTE BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1983 RECOVERED IN GOOD CONDITION. A NEW DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS. 3.6 KM (2.25 MI) NORTHEASTERLY ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 160 FROM ITS JUNCTION WITH STATE HIGHWAY 264 IN TUBA CITY, 0.3 KM (0.2 MI) NORTHEAST OF MILEPOST 324, 78.0 METERS (256.0 FT) SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 41.6 METERS (136.5 FT) SOUTHEAST OF A UTILITY POLE, AND 18.3 METERS (60.0 FT) SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF A DIRT ROAD LEADING EAST. THE MARK IS 0.3 METERS E FROM A WITNESS POST. THE MARK IS 1.2 M BELOW THE HIGHWAY.

Control Text

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1991. WARNING-Repeat measurements at this control monument indicate possible vertical movement.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
