DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1934 29.1 MI E FROM GRAND CANYON. ABOUT 29.1 MILES EAST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 64 FROM EL TOVAR HOTEL AT GRAND CANYON, COCONINO COUNTY, ABOUT 0.4 MILE EAST OF THE GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK BOUNDARY, ABOUT 40 YARDS NORTHEAST OF A 2-FOOT GALVANIZED-IRON CULVERT, 132 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 5 FEET SOUTHWEST OF A SMALL ROCK MOUND, AND IN THE TOP OF THE SOUTH EDGE OF A LARGE SANDSTONE OUTCROP. A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED G 62 1934.

  • The horizontal coordinates were scaled from a topographic map and have an estimated accuracy of +/- 6 seconds.
  • The orthometric height was determined by differential leveling and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in 1992. * This is a POSTED BENCH MARK height. Code A indicates a distribution rate of 0.0 thru 1.0 mm/km.
  • The geoid height was determined by GEOID99.
  • The dynamic height is computed by dividing the NAVD 88 geopotential number by the normal gravity value computed on the Geodetic Reference System of 1980 (GRS 80) ellipsoid at 45 degrees latitude (G = 980.6199 gals.).
  • The modeled gravity was interpolated from observed gravity values.
